Orcas Island boasts an extraordinary number of recreational opportunities! Some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world are here on Orcas Island. Explore the island on one of the Inn’s bicycles. Enjoy the experience of open-water kayaking, or set sail on a classic wooden sailboat. Rent a boat on your own and take a picnic to an outer island. Whale watching tours can provide an adventure of a lifetime: seeing the killer whales in their natural habitat can truly be a thrill.
Save time for poking around the shops and discovering a treasure at one of the island’s potteries.
You may also enjoy sinking into a large wicker chair on the veranda or in the sunny conservatory with a good book. Enjoy the peace and quiet!
Bird watching opportunities abound at the Inn On Orcas Island. Birds calling our waterfront location home are: bald eagles, golden eagles, ospreys, turkey vultures, merlins, hawks, crom bills, kingfishers, robins, widgeons, shoveless, grebes, buffleheads, merganzers, teals, and of course hummingbirds!
The ferry trip to Orcas is one of the most scenic journeys in the state and really is a lot of fun. Plan ahead and bring a snack picnic, magazines, book, or write that letter to Uncle John!
If time is valuable, take a floatplane from Seattle on Kenmore Air right into Deer Harbor. Orcas Island Shuttle can have a rental car here waiting for you!
